New for 2009! The award-winning Big Agnes Copper Spur series has expanded to include a spacious solo offering, the Copper Spur UL 1. Boasting an impressive interior space to weight ratio, the Copper Spur UL 1 is sure to appeal to ounce-counting backpackers who don't want to skimp on creature comforts. Slightly tapered from the head to the foot of the tent, the interior of the 3-season Copper Spur UL 1 measures 42" at its widest point and stretches a full 90" in length. With 22 sq. ft. of interior space and a trail weight of only 2 lb. 11 oz., the Copper Spur UL 1 offers ample room for solo hikers. A large front vestibule offers 10 sq ft of additional weather-protected external storage space and a zip-thru passage on the interior of the tent body grants access to a small rear vestibule. Integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Wall Gear Loft (sold separately). DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated DAC Twist Clips to make setting up the Copper Spur UL 1 fast, easy and intuitive. An additional short section of pole runs across the roof the Copper Spur UL 1 and connects easily via an innovative HClip attachment, pulling the tent body taut, increasing the verticality of the interior walls and helping to improve the spaciousness of the two vestibules. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles. Ample mesh on the tent body and a large D-shaped door maximize cross ventilation and provides circulation to fight condensation build-up. Coated with waterproof polyurethane, the rip-stop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the Copper Spur UL 1's seams are tape-sealed to further protect the tent from the elements.

| Worth every penny! Like many others, I was apprehensive of spending so much money for a tent BUT I needed something super lightweight that was also well-built. I've never put a tent together, but this is almost idiot-proof. Even so, there are plenty of videos on youtube.com that can walk you through it. It was my first time at pitching a tent and I was able to do it in less than 10 minutes. Now, I know that it can be done in 2 or 3. The side door was important to me because I didn't like the idea of having to turn in the tent in order to get out. A really nice touch is a small ventilation window that has a small "bar" to hold the flap open like an awning so rain won't come in. | A worthwhile investment for ounce counters I have had this tent for about a year now. Overall, it has been excellent. This tent is roughly 1-2 lbs lighter than most other tents in its class, allowing me to more easily justify the price tag. Experienced hikers know that cutting this kind of weight in your pack will allow you to hike farther, safer, and more comfortably. I only gave this tent 4 stars because of the price. I have used this tent in many locations in Colorado including Great Sand Dunes NP, White Mountain NF, and Rocky Mtn. NP. It is easy to pitch and meets all other expectations. I am 6'1" with broad shoulders. The interior and space is sufficient enough to avoid feeling closed in, but its not excessive. The vestibule can accommodate a medium-sized pack and a pair of boots, but not much else. I have weathered some seriously averse weather in this tent. During a sudden, ~50 mph wind storm in Rocky Mtn. NP that sent other campers scrambling for their cars, a couple of my tent stakes... | Customer review 2 |
