Meta 1P Ultralight Trekking TentThe Meta 1-Person Ultralight Trekking Tent is a striking example of the efficiency and weight savings of a well-designed trekking pole tent. In order to save you precious ounces, a single trekking pole provides support to the tent in lieu of standard tent poles or airbeams. Thanks to well-placed anchor points, setup is quick and easy, with none of the pole slippage and tensioning issues that plague other trekking pole tents. Multiple venting options and vestibule configurations keep the rain out and the air circulating. Despite its paltry weight, Meta 2P upholds the Nemo Equipment standard for comfort and usability, with four integral vents, multiple mesh pockets, and the highest quality fabrics and hardware. Dual vestibules combine with the tent interior to a total of 58 square feet of rain-protected comfort and gear storage, which is pretty amazing for a tent that weighs less than 2 pounds. Includes watertight stuff sack, stakes, and repair kit.

About Nemo Equipment
In 2002, Cam Brensinger incorporated Nemo Equipment, Inc with the intention of bringing high-level design and engineering to the outdoor industry. Only two months later, following his graduation, Cam moved Nemo into an historic mill in Nashua, NH. A quick drive from both New Hampshire's White Mountains and the great design and business resources available from connections at RISD and MIT, Nashua was the perfect location to establish the company headquarters. Much of the first year was spent learning how to sew and pattern and developing Nemo's AirSupported Technology. Tents were chosen as Nemo's first product line because Cam saw the opportunity to bring significant new innovation to the market and knew that successfully revolutionizing tents would give Nemo the credibility to move into new product lines in the future.

Since then, Nemo has won many awards in the outdoor industry, including Gear of the Year from Outside Magazine for the Losi 3P tent. Nemo contributes it's success to the brand's vision to be the leading source of product innovation for outdoor recreation and survival while using creativity to inspire respect for the planet, a love of adventure, and a love of the people and places that make adventure possible.

A great ultralight 1 person tent with some quirks.
I like this little tent and have not had any problems setting it up in less than ideal conditions. It's been on canyoneering trips in Utah and Arizona. On long hikes in the sierras and the cascades. I even used it on a 5 week bicycle tour by crafting a pole front an old tent. It has served me well through rain, heat, and wind.

Setup does have it's quirks though. Unlike many other tents you definitely want to read the directions. If you follow the order shown in the directions you will get a nice taut pitch. If not, then you will have some difficulty getting everything set up correctly. Thus, I would say that this is a tent for more experienced users. It is lightweight; but, you've got to know what you are doing to get a good taut pitch.

Great pricey ultralight option.
I didn't buy this tent on Amazon but on theclymb.com for about 100 bucks cheaper than on here. I've taken it on 2 trips now this winter and so far so good. Very sturdy and bombproof if you get the hang of setting it up right This tent is a bitch to set up at first, but when you practice at home before you take it out into the field you can just about do it with your eyes closed. The bathtub style floor is pretty rugged. It's an ultralight tent that uses trekking poles to set up BUT you can just buy the tent pole for it and it works just as well. If you're a bigger guy like me(6'1)then you need to tie the guy lines out on the sides to give a little extra head and foot room. The vestibule is pretty sweet. It's got more than enough space for your gear and for cooking at the same time. There's enough room in the tent for a few extra items like your boots or something like that. Haven't gotten an chance to test it in the rain yet but so far condensation hasn't been a problem yet, even...

Good lightweight tent.
I just used the Nemo Meta 1 on a 2 week hike of the AT in NC and TN. It performed well, but I do agree that care must be taken in following the set-up instructions. Towards the end of my hike I arrived at a campsite late. It was getting dark, I was tired, and could not quite get a taut pitch. There was also considerable condensation on the inside of the tent. It is very lightweight, packs well, and is less expensive that other ultralight tents, so I am not giving up on it. Just be aware to always take care in the set-up.
